About VetRadCE.com
VetRadCE.com is a continuing education provider for veterinary professionals like no other. We specialize in veterinary imaging only. From radiography and ultrasonography to the interpretation of those images, we strive to give you information that can make the difference when it comes to providing quality images. Whether you interpret the images at your practice or utilize teleradiology for the radiographic diagnosis, you want professional images that represent your professionalism and radiographic skills.
This site is the vision of a veterinary radiographer who has been promoting excellence in veterinary radiography for 20+ years. Professionals who work fulltime just in those specialties write our courses in radiography and ultrasound. The courses include specific tips and information not found in general radiography textbooks. Not only can the information improve the quality of your radiographic images, it can save you time and money.
VetRadCE.com is starting "small" and will grow as interest in course offerings increases. If the current courses are popular and well received, there will definitely be more!
Amy S. Lang, B.A., R.T.R.
As an educator and technologist in veterinary radiography for more than twenty years, Amy has enjoyed teaching students and radiographing animal patients. After being a pre-vet student as far back as she can remember, Amy became interested in x-ray work and decided to try and combine the two passions. Amy's bachelor's degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and her degree in Radiologic Technology from North Central Technical College in Wausau, Wisconsin both helped her get a job as a tech and instructor at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in 1984 where she has been since.
Sixteen years ago, Amy started consulting work helping Wisconsin veterinary clinics troubleshoot their x-ray equipment and making technique charts. Going out into the "real world" helps Amy know how to prepare veterinary students for what they will encounter when they get out in practice. It's also fun and rewarding working with graduates after they leave the University of Wisconsin!
Over the years, Amy has done a little writing and speaking professionally. A few years ago, she decided it was time to start writing down everything she knew about radiographing animal patients. Amy wanted to provide information to anyone who wanted to know as much as they could about various radiographic exams. She wanted to pass on positioning and technique setting tips that you won't find in basic textbooks. While the textbooks that are out there are good, they have a large variety of information to cover. In the spring of 2008, the idea for this website came to Amy. Since VetRadCE.com is her site, Amy can pick and choose what she wants to include, but very much welcomes ideas of what participants would like to see on here!
The courses on this site are meant to assist veterinary professionals in producing good quality radiographs and perhaps learn some views they may not already know how to do. Amy's goal is to help everyone interested in doing a more complete job diagnosing and documenting abnormalities in their patients. It is also her goal to help veterinarians and technicians obtain CE credits they need to stay knowledgeable and up-to-date with their accreditation.
Cindy Wrase, R.T.R.
Cindy Wrase is a radiologic technologist presently specializing in osteoporosis at the Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. She is an amateur artist with little formal training and her preferred medium is pencil drawing. Cindy has created logos and illustrations for colleagues and organizations during her years of working in radiology. Kimberly Legler, R.T.R.
Kimberly Legler started as a pre-vet student at UW-Madison in 1996, which later led her down a different career path. She graduated from Madison Area Technical College located in Madison, Wisconsin, in May of 2005 with an Associate's of Science Degree in Radiography. She briefly worked with people, knowing in her mind that getting back to a career with animals was her destiny. With much determination, she pursued a job at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital. In early 2006, she was hired at the University and has been working with animals and teaching students ever since. Kimberly works closely with Amy Lang to increase her knowledge and improve her skills. She is also an integral part in the computer aspects of the digital radiography system that the school utilizes.
Kimberly jumped at the opportunity to be involved with VetRadCE.com in the early stages. Her computer skills and input have been assets to starting the site and offering the courses. Her goal is to help educate others in obtaining quality radiographs that aid radiologists and veterinarians in being more successful in making accurate diagnostic interpretations.
